When Southern California sunshine meets Michigan's lake breeze at Sodon Lake Residence, a design narrative about memory and nature quietly unfolds. Reimagined in 2022 by Disbrow Iannuzzi Architects, this 5,000-square-foot private residence in Bloomfield Township embodies the essence of Mid-Century Modern architecture while imbuing the homeowners' family with warmth.

當(dāng)南加州的陽光與密歇根的湖風(fēng)在 Sodon 湖畔住宅相遇，一場關(guān)于記憶與自然的設(shè)計(jì)敘事便悄然展開。這座 5000 平方英尺的私人住宅，經(jīng) Disbrow Iannuzzi 建筑師事務(wù)所重塑，于 2022 年在布盧姆菲爾德鎮(zhèn)落地，既延續(xù)了中世紀(jì)現(xiàn)代建筑的骨血，又盛滿了業(yè)主一家的生活溫度。

From the outside, the residence resembles a gentle, unpolished gem embedded in a gently sloping landscape. The white exterior resembles the clear Southern California sky, gently embracing the sunlight and dispelling the harshness of a Michigan winter. Undyed cedar rain screens stretch along the walls, their veins imbued with the breath of the woodland, developing a variegated texture that develops over time, a symbiosis with nature. The clean lines of the standing seam roof soften the harshness of the metal, and when it rains, the patter of raindrops against the roof becomes the most melodious natural accompaniment, alongside the lake view. From a distance, the building appears less like a construction than like a natural growth, framing a flowing natural landscape, juxtaposed with the distant Twin Temperatures Lake.

從室外望去，住宅如一塊溫潤的璞玉嵌在緩坡之上。白色外墻似南加州的晴空，將陽光輕輕攬入懷中，消解了密歇根冬日的凜冽；未染色的雪松雨幕沿著墻面舒展，紋理間藏著林地的呼吸，隨時(shí)間沉淀出與自然共生的斑駁質(zhì)感。直立鎖邊屋頂線條利落，金屬的冷硬被陽光柔化，下雨時(shí)，雨滴敲打屋頂?shù)穆曧?，成了湖景之外最動聽的自然伴奏。遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)望去，建筑不似刻意建造，反倒像從這片土地里生長出來，與不遠(yuǎn)處的雙溫湖遙遙相望，構(gòu)成一幅流動的自然畫卷。

Upon opening the door, the interior is instantly enveloped by light and shadow. The polished concrete floor gleams with a delicate sheen, and stepping barefoot, one feels the warmth of the material, as if transporting the warmth of a Southern California courtyard indoors. Eschewing elaborate ornamentation, the walls are dominated by a simple white, paired with desaturated wood furniture, allowing sunlight to take center stage. In the morning, sunlight slants in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting shadows of the window frames on the floor, slowly shifting with time. In the afternoon, light and shadows flow across the dining table. As the family gathers around the table, the aroma of food intertwined with the scent of sunlight, imbued with the essence of everyday life.

推開門，室內(nèi)的光影瞬間包裹住人。拋光的混凝土樓板泛著細(xì)膩的光澤，赤腳踩上去，能感受到材質(zhì)傳遞的溫潤觸感，仿佛將南加州庭院的暖意搬進(jìn)了室內(nèi)。沒有繁復(fù)的裝飾，墻面以簡潔的白色為主，搭配低飽和度的木質(zhì)家具，讓陽光成為空間的主角 —— 清晨，陽光透過落地窗斜灑進(jìn)來，在地板上投下窗框的影子，隨時(shí)間緩緩移動；午后，光影漫過餐桌，家人圍坐用餐時(shí)，食物的香氣與陽光的味道交織，滿是生活的煙火氣。

The spatial layout reflects the designer's ingenuity. Intermediate floor levels create cozy "living capsules." The living area features a soft, comfortable sofa, where the owner's family often gathered and reminisced about their Southern California beach days. The dining area, adjacent to the window, offers a view of the lake. In the evening, the lake's golden glow complements the candlelight on the dining table, creating a romantic and soothing experience. The rest area features a plush lounge chair. In the afternoon sun, one can relax with a book, letting the lake breeze gently filter through the screened windows, and their fatigue will melt away. Each space is not a cold, functional area, but a vessel for emotion, quietly integrating the owner's love for Southern California and Michigan into their daily lives.

空間布局藏著設(shè)計(jì)師的巧思， intermediate floor levels 劃分出的區(qū)域，像一個(gè)個(gè)溫馨的 “生活膠囊”。起居區(qū)的沙發(fā)柔軟舒適，業(yè)主一家曾在這里圍坐，回憶南加州的沙灘時(shí)光；用餐區(qū)緊鄰窗邊，抬頭便能望見湖景，傍晚時(shí)分，湖面泛著金光，與餐桌上的燭光相映，浪漫又治愈；小憩區(qū)擺著一張柔軟的躺椅，午后陽光正好時(shí)，捧一本書靜臥于此，湖風(fēng)透過紗窗輕輕拂過，疲憊便在不知不覺中消散。每一處空間都不是冰冷的功能區(qū)，而是承載情感的容器，將業(yè)主對南加州的眷戀與對密歇根的熱愛，悄悄融進(jìn)日常。

The choice of materials is thoughtful. VOC-free walls breathe in pure air, protecting the family's health. Cedar accents extend from the exterior to the interior, their wood grain seemingly telling a story of nature, allowing the owner to experience the warmth of Southern California wood while living in Michigan. These materials not only imbue the space with practicality but also convey a lifestyle—a return to essentials and an embrace of nature.

材質(zhì)的選擇更是滿含心意。無 VOC 飾面的墻面，呼吸著純凈的空氣，守護(hù)著家人的健康；雪松元素從室外延伸至室內(nèi)，木質(zhì)的紋理仿佛在訴說著自然的故事，讓業(yè)主在密歇根的日子里，也能觸摸到南加州庭院里木材的溫潤。這些材質(zhì)不僅賦予空間實(shí)用功能，更傳遞著一種生活態(tài)度 —— 回歸本質(zhì)，與自然相擁。

The Sodon Lake House is more than just a building. It represents the owner's family's emotional sustenance for 15 years of Southern California life, a haven for the breeze and sunshine of Lake Michigan, and a place where art and life blend. Here, every design imbues the space with warmth, every material holds a story, allowing visitors to experience the true beauty of life through interaction with the space.

Sodon 湖畔住宅，早已不是一座單純的建筑。它是業(yè)主一家 15 年南加州生活的情感寄托，是密歇根湖風(fēng)與陽光的收納盒，更是藝術(shù)與生活交融的棲居之地。在這里，每一處設(shè)計(jì)都帶著溫度，每一種材質(zhì)都藏著故事，讓人在與空間的互動中，感受到生活最本真的美好。
