一般來說，1區(qū)期刊都是影響因子很高，影響力很大的期刊。但由于學(xué)科特點(diǎn)等方面的原因，也有很多1區(qū)期刊的影響因子并不高。
這里主要是人文社科領(lǐng)域的期刊，例如歷史學(xué)領(lǐng)域的Textile History，哲學(xué)領(lǐng)域的Dead Sea Discoveries，影響因子只有0.1，但依舊榮登1區(qū)期刊之列。
自然科學(xué)領(lǐng)域，主要是數(shù)學(xué)領(lǐng)域。數(shù)學(xué)期刊整體影響因子比較低，因此像Journal of Combinatorial Theory Series B（1.2），Journal Fur Die Reine Und Angewandte Mathematik（1.3），Commentarii Mathematici Helvetici（1.4）等，都是1區(qū)期刊。
也有例外的情況，例如綜合性期刊Chinese Science Bulletin-Chinese（1.2），醫(yī)學(xué)期刊Infectious Disease Modelling（2.5）和生物期刊Avian Research（1.7），雖然上述領(lǐng)域高手如云，但這些期刊也都是1區(qū)期刊。
