本周我們學(xué)習(xí)和綠植相關(guān)的詞匯

1. succulent /'s?kj?l(?)nt/

n. 多肉植物

e.g. She decorated her balcony with small pots of succulents because they are easy to maintain and look attractive.

e.g. Succulents store water in their thick leaves, which helps them survive long droughts.

補充：drought n. 干旱

2. ornamental /??n?'ment(?)l/

adj.裝飾性的；美觀的

搭配：ornamental value/ purpose 裝飾價值;目的

Ornamental plants; flowers 觀賞性的植物/ 花

e.g. Many people grow ornamental plants on their balconies to make their homes more attractive.

e.g. Unlike crops, these flowers are grown mainly for their ornamental value rather than practical use.

補充：balcony n.陽臺

n. 觀賞植物; 裝飾品;擺設(shè)。

e.g. In addition to vegetables, the garden also had some ornamentals such as roses and lilies.

e.g. He bought several small ornamentals to decorate his living room.

3. spiky/'spa?k?/

adj. 有尖刺的

e.g. The cactus has thick stems and spiky leaves to protect itself from animals.

e.g. Succulent plants often have spiky leaves to reduce water loss and protect themselves from predators.

補充：cactus n.仙人掌

adj.易怒的

e.g. Although he seems spiky at first, he is actually very kind once you get to know him.

4. plough/pla?/

v. 犁[地]; 耕地

搭配：plough field, earth, soil 犁地

e.g. Farmers plough the fields in spring to prepare for sowing seeds.

e.g. Before planting, they ploughed the garden to loosen the soil.

補充：sow v. 播種

loosen the soil 松土

搭配：plough through 辛苦完成某事、克服困難

e.g. Students often need to plough through dense textbooks to prepare for exams.
